This is apparently what the cutouts on a 1970 decklid are supposed to look like.
This is apparently what the cutouts on a 1971-up decklid are supposed to look like.
Here is my decklid - it looks nothing like either of the above.
Another angle of my decklid.
This is what the cutout on the left side of my decklid looks like. It looks kind've like a 1971 style cutout, but without having another car to directly compare to, I can't be sure wether this is a factory 1971 style cutout or if someone took a grinding wheel to the decklid for who knows what reason.
This is what the 1970 bracket looks like when held roughly in position. Obviously, this cutout does not conform to the 1970 style cutouts, so it is not as far "up" into the decklid as it normally would be. The main problem here is that even if I cut the "back" of the hole larger to conform to the 1970 style cutout, there is material missing at the "front" of the hole which the 1970 bracket expects to screw to.
Here is another shot of the bracket - as you can see, there is nothing for the front of the bracket to attach to.
This is the right side of my decklid - there is NO cutout.
Another angle of the right side of my decklid.
